Radio Best Smooth Jazz

Radio Best Smooth Jazz is an independent digital web radio station based in London, United Kingdom. It has broadcast online since 2010 under the ownership of veteran broadcaster Rod Lucas. The station runs without traditional FM frequencies or commercial ad breaks. It focuses on mature professionals and jazz fans who want music for work and relaxation.

Programming features online audio streams and podcasts with Rod Lucas. Wine expert Angie also drops in for lifestyle reviews. The station marks its sixteenth anniversary in October 2026. The broadcast mixes smooth rhythms with relaxed chat, avoiding standard commercial interruptions.

The music policy sticks strictly to instrumentals from five decades. It avoids mainstream pop loops in favor of soul-jazz fusion and cool grooves. Listeners hear acts like Shakatak, Brian Culbertson, and George Benson. This creates an understated atmosphere for focused listening.

Exact daily listener numbers stay private with management. Even so, the station holds high ratings across mobile app stores and podcast directories. People tune in for the commercial-free experience and rare melodic tracks that are hard to find on mainstream networks.

Unlike traditional UK platforms such as Jazz FM, which mix vocal tracks and standard advertising blocks, this station offers a pure instrumental escape. At the same time, the lack of terrestrial FM coverage and the absence of vocal performances mean it might not suit listeners who prefer conventional commercial radio formats.
